Warehousing Traineeship

The Goodwin Development Trust & Fareshare Hull & Humber are proud to introduce you to our three young people that have been part of the first cohort of our Warehousing traineeship for 16-18-year-olds.

A traineeship programme is a work-based skills development programme that includes a work placement. Our traineeship lasts for 16 weeks and aims to upskill English and Maths (where needed), provide tailored support in Employability Skills and offer a meaningful work placement to gain valuable experience.

With support from Humber Learning Consortium (HLC), Goodwin Development Trust have been able to offer a safe, meaningful and high-quality work experience placement based at the Fareshare Hull&Humber food distribution warehouse.

All three learners have spent two days a week developing a varity of warehouse and storage skills. These skills include receiving goods in, picking and sorting orders in readiness for next-day delivery, and stock rotation just a few to mention.  They have all completed the NCFE L2 Principles in Warehousing and Storage qualification.

All three have also been working on their Maths, English and employability skills in readiness for the next step either into an apprenticeship or fulltime meaningfull employment.

The progress that these learners have made during their time on the traineeship is astounding and I could not be more proud of them. All three have worked extremely hard in their maths and english. They are all actively looking and applying for apprenticeships and jobs and have had positive responses. They have developed into mature and conscientious individuals and I have high hopes for their next steps. 

I have been very impressed with all three placements, especially with their commitment to learn all aspects of warehousing. All three have applied great enthusiasm and have 100 attendance record whilst in the warehouse.
