Marcus Rashford has been a huge supporter of FareShare over
the past year, starting when he fought the governments plans to suspend free
school meals when the schools closed during lockdown. He has worked tirelessly
over the past 12 months to highlight the struggle of families who are facing
food poverty and insecurity in the UK and encouraging others to find
sustainable solutions to combating these issues. Marcus and Tom both grow up in
low income households, and saw first hand the impact of food insecurity, and
the additional stress sit can cause families and children.
Food insecurity in the UK has risen during the pandemic,
with an increased number of people visiting food banks. In the past 6 months,
2.3 million children have faced food poverty, and the pandemic has created a
newly vulnerable group who were financially stable before the lockdown.
It is fantastic that Marcus and Tom have teamed up to create
Full Time Meals. The recipes can be found on Facebook and Instagram, with a new
recipe and video tutorial uploaded each week.
The recipes are perfect for families to recreate at home, but also for
our Community Food Members to use to encourage their members to get cooking.
This is a fantastic, free resource- make sure you follow along! Tag us in any
recipes you make using FareShare food.
