This year FareShare Hull & Humber were lucky enough to be the chosen charity of two National Citizens Service teams, whose aim was to raise awareness of food poverty in the region, and raise funds for the Healthy Holidays programme.

The first team used surplus food to organise a bake sale, alongside a sponsored walk. The funds raised from these events was used to create healthy eating surplus food recipe booklets to be shared with the youth groups and children’s centers.

The second team promoted the work we do at FareShare, by engaging with the public and asking them what their perception of poverty is in 2019. The funds raised from their work is to be used to support the Healthy Holidays programme, and the Backpack Buddies organisation that provides food for families on a weekend.

We really appreciate all of the hard work that the teams from NCS, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact they have made on families this summer.
