Work With Us

FareShare-006

FareShare Hull & Humber has long, successful and excellent working relationships with the Food Industry Partners on both a national and local level – they include Sainsbury, Tesco, Asda, Marks & Spencer and Nestle to name but a few.
If your organization would like to get involved by donating food, or Sponsoring one or more Community Food Members or simply by Volunteering either at our depot or on one of our regular Food Drives- then we would be delighted to hear from you . We’ll happily arrange a visit to our Malmo Rd depot in Hull to discuss how you could join the fight against food poverty in our region.

And if you’d like to speak to your contemporaries at any of our local Food Industry Partners about how they work with FareShare – well we can arrange that too!

FareShare Hull & Humber also operates a Training Programme for young unemployed people in many areas of warehousing – so if you are looking to recruit staff, we constantly have potential recruits who have committed themselves not only to fighting food poverty but also to acquiring new skills to enhance their employability

Volunteering

FareShare-005

FareShare Hull & Humber is operated almost entirely by volunteers – and we are always happy to have more volunteers!

We often run Corporate Volunteering Days where local companies send staff teams to our depot on Malmo Rd, Hull to help us in all areas of our work – there’s no greater commitment to CSR than joining the fight against food poverty. All of our Corporate Volunteer Teams have found it hugely rewarding to see the immediate result of their efforts and it has given many of them a huge sense of personal satisfaction. If you’re interested, we can easily arrange for you to visit our depot and discuss how we might work together.

And whilst we’re very happy to have help in all areas, we would like to encourage potential volunteers to consider applying their particular skills set to FareShare. For example, if you work in an accounts dept at a local company perhaps you can help us with paperwork and ordering etc – or perhaps help one of our resource-poor Community Food Members with theirs.

We have volunteering opportunities in areas of Office admin; account management; ordering; forklift driving; food deliveries; sorting food and trainee mentoring – to name but a few.

So if you think you could help us in any of those areas or perhaps you simply just want to make the tea – then we would love to hear from you! However much time you can spare will help us move closer to our goal of ensuring that nobody in our region goes hungry.

How FareShare Works

FareShare-002

Every week, FareShare Hull & Humber receives tonnes of surplus food from the food industry at our depot on Malmo Rd in Hull. This food is of excellent quality and is surplus for a whole number of reasons ranging from incorrect barcoding to over-manufacture – never because it is out of date. We in turn deliver that food every week to our network of 70 Community Food Members (CFMs) who are working with disadvantaged people throughout the region.

Each week we can email or fax our CFMs the details of what we have in stock – and that can be quite a wide ranging offer from fresh food to ambient packaged food of all descriptions. Our Community Food Members then tell us what they would like delivered that week – and we deliver it. Simple.

The food FareShare delivers is used by our Community Food Members in a variety of ways – which range from cooking basic meals and offering nutrition tuition to offering food parcels to struggling families or meal-on-wheels for the elderly and vulnerable.

Talk to us about how FareShare food could work for you – we can also put you in touch with other Community Food members who can tell you themselves how much of a positive impact FareShare has had both on the people they work with and also on their overheads – on average a Community Food Member can save up to £13,000 per annum on food bills.
