FareShare Hull & Humber is run by The Goodwin Development Trust. It redistributes surplus food from the food industry to more than 70 organisations throughout the region – with more signing up every day to become Community Food Members (CFMs). This means that FareShare Hull and Humber’s network of CFMs is now feeding more than 5,000 people who are directly affected by food poverty. FareShare Hull & Humber is part of the national FareShare network which in 2012/13 contributed towards more than 10 million meals – which means that an average of 51,00 across the UK benefit from FareShare every day.
Helping the environment by reducing waste
FareShare also helps the environment by minimizing the amount of food sent to landfill and helping businesses reduce CO2 emissions by 1,850 tonnes in 2012-13 alone.
